My Thoughts:
Under My Skin is a book that will have you quickly flipping through the pages with intrigue. What drew me to the book was the fact that the storyline includes domestic violence as I feel that it isn't touched on a lot. I thought that McClelland did a wonderful job of showcasing this sensitive topic with care.
The first chapter starts with a phone call to 999 and you are thrown straight into the action and are intrigued from the get-go. The story is written from many female character's perspectives which I loved! It added so many different elements to the story and made for a highly entertaining read. I also thought the characters were all very realistic and relatable and you very quickly learn to love or hate them. McClelland does a great job of building tension with the exciting and fast paced plot; and with the chapters being so short it is a definite page turner!
The only thing I didn't really like was the way McClelland used the same phrases word for word throughout the novel. For example she uses the phrase 'rather be at home with a good book' and the idea of cooking something in the kitchen to help with 'the aroma of the house' for multiple characters and I found it quite repetitive and a bit unrealistic that they would all have the exact same obscure thoughts.
Aside from that, the ending was quite satisfying as every character got what they deserved and as reader you can't help but feel happy for them all. Under My Skin is an entertaining, intriguing and gripping read that you won't be able to put down.
